LED printer

An LED printer is a computer printer that works similar to a laser printer. The LED technology uses a light-emitting diode as a light source in the line printhead.

Laser systems work with a complicated arrangement of mirrors that must not be adjusted during the life of the device. With this, the laser scans from one end of a line to another, and then repeats the process on the next line. He designs so during the passage of the original image on the print drum.

In contrast, the row of LEDs of an LED printer is as wide as the original, and therefore exposed at the same time the width of the page. Due to their principle to expose line by line, LED printers can print faster than laser printers that expose pointwise. Since a LED printing head as compared to a laser printing head has fewer or no moving parts, LED printers are also more reliable in operation and cheaper to manufacture as a laser printer.

The principle of the LED printer has been developed by Casio.
