Lee Hendrie

Lee Andrew Hendrie ( born May 18, 1977 in Birmingham) is an English footballer. The midfielder is since September 2009 at Derby County under contract.

Career

Born in Birmingham Hendrie played initially at local club Aston Villa. He is the son of Paul Hendrie, who had also been football players. His first professional use, he completed on 23 October 1995 on the occasion of the 0-1 defeat at Queens Park Rangers. He won in the 1997/98 season the club house award for the best young player of the season. On 18 November 1998 he also played against the Czech Republic his only senior international for the England national team.

With time, however, his progress has been slow and a series of red cards stopped his initially promising career until he finally gave in 2003 with David O'Leary, the new coach of the "Villans " a second chance. After he had again lost his place in the 2005/06 season, it looked as if the basis Ries time at Aston Villa was close to the end, as the Portsmouth showed interest in signing Based Ries. Since the transfer did not take place during the exchange period in the summer of 2006, Hendrie was awarded on 29 September 2006 instead of Stoke City. On 30 January 2007, it extended his loan period until the end of the season 2006/07.

On 19 July 2007 Hendrie moved free transfer to Sheffield United and signed there a 3- year contract. On 12 January 2008, he scored the first goal for his new club. A month later it went again but "on the journey ", and between Februar and April 2008 Hendrie helped out at Leicester City. Before the start of season 2008/ 09 he had come back regularly in Sheffield to the course, but then moved again on loan between November 2008 and year-end - now for Blackpool FC. In the next season he transferred in exchange for Jordan Stewart to Derby County.
