Lee Moore (politician)

Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore ( * February 15, 1939 in St. Kitts; † 6 May 2000 New York City ) was a politician from St. Kitts and Nevis.

Biography

Moore was founded in 1967, first public relations advisor of Premier Robert Bradshaw. His own political career began in 1971 when he was elected a deputy of the National Assembly, where he represented the interests of the constituency 4 ( Old Road, Sandy Point, East ) until 1984. Between 1971 and 1979 he was Attorney General ( Attorney General ) in the Cabinets of Bradshaw and Paul Southwell. From 1978 until his death he was also chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions ( St. Kitts- Nevis Trades and Labour Union).

As Southwell died on 18 May 1979 Moore was as Premier, his successor as head of government of the Associated State. He held until February 21, 1980 this office. In addition, he was 1979-1989 Chairman of the St. Kitts- Nevis Labour Party.

In 1995, he was his country's ambassador to the United Nations in New York and held that office until his death. In January 2000, he was raised as a Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George in the nobility and led since the additional name sir.
