Lefka

Lefke, Greek Lefgios, is a place in the district Lefkoşa in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It is located in the Bay of Morphou.

Since the 16th century, when Ottoman peasants and artisans settled in Cyprus, Lefka and the surrounding area are predominantly Turkish settlement area. In the town there are many traditional Ottoman town houses with their pronounced horizontal lines, the widely projecting tile roof, a projecting upper floor and an enclosed, tree-covered courtyard.

The city came through the nearby copper mines to wealth.

Education

In Lefka is founded in 1990, the European University of Lefke. My research and teaching helps the side agriculturally structured space Lefka to a second pillar.

Attractions

The grave of the late Ottoman admiral in 1839, after the Piri Osman Paşa Mosque is named, is one of the few remaining examples of sophisticated Ottoman stone masonry in Cyprus.
