Legden (pronounced Lɛɕtən ) ( Low German Ledden ) is a municipality in Western Munsterland in the northwest of the federal state of North Rhine- Westphalia and belongs to the district of Borken in the governmental district of Münster.

Legden lies between the larger cities of Enschede and Münster in Münster western country.

History

Legden and Asbeck were first documented in the year 1092.

On July 1, 1969 Asbeck was incorporated into the municipality Legden.

The new community Legden took over the crest of the old Office Legden of 1957. The coat of arms is based on the coat of arms of former municipalities Asbeck (diamonds, house Asbeck ) and Legden (stars, based on the seal of John of Legden 1348 ), supplemented by the golden beams of the Bishopric of Münster, which included the community earlier.

Regular events

Legden is nationally mainly because of his dahlias children's flower parades ( DahlKiBluko ) known. This place every three years on the 3rd Sunday in September, the next time on 21 September 2014.
