Leicester Paul Beaufort

Leicester Paul Beaufort, (* 1853 in Warburton, † 1926), was a British barrister and colonial governor North Borneo.

Biography

Beaufort was the son of Daniel Augustus Beaufort and his wife Emily Newel, nee Davis. His paternal grandfather was Rear- Admiral Sir Francis Beaufort. During his tenure as Governor of North Borneo Labuan coincided with the administration within the jurisdiction of the Governor of North Borneo. Beaufort office from January 1909 until May 16, 1911 in Fort Jameson as administrator Northwest Rhodesia ( Barotseland ).

The city of Beaufort in the Malaysian state of Sabah is named after Leicester Paul Beaufort.
