Leipziger Parkeisenbahn

The Leipzig Park Railway, also known as Park railway Auensee, is a miniature railway that runs to the Leipzig Auensee in a circuit of 1.9 km length.

The railway was opened in August 1951, was up to the German reunification in 1990, a pioneer railway in the German Democratic Republic. The movement is ensured mainly by children and adolescents. Operators of the park railway Leipzig is the association Parkeisenbahn Auensee.

History

The former Leipzig Pioneer Railway was opened on 5 August 1951 as the second Pioneer Railway of the GDR. At this time, four cars and a steam locomotive were used. In 1988, in the realm railway workshop Dresden eight new passenger cars as well as a supply wagons, used to compressed air and electricity and is set in steam trains, built. Steam locomotive 03 002

The steam locomotive 03 002 (originally 002, later 03 215 ) was built in 1925 at the company Krauss -Maffei. Car
