Lemke is a village in Lower Saxony. It belongs to the municipality in the district of Marklohe Nienburg / Weser. Lemke is west, 4 miles from the county town of Nienburg / Weser. The river Weser flows east 2 km away.
History
In the south adjacent industrial area was with the Iron and Roman Iron Age settlement at Lemke a prehistoric settlement site with burial ground. An archaeological excavation in 2013 dated its use time of the Pre-Roman Iron Age around 500 BC until the beginning of the Roman imperial period around 300 AD. Already around the year 2001 in the development of the business park, a completely preserved and functioning Roman quern found made of basalt lava, which had been buried in about three feet deep in the sand.
Attractions
On the mountain at Oyler Lemke, a monument was erected around 1890, which was to commemorate the founding of the North German choral societies in 1831. It is composed of several rock stones.
Traffic
Lemke is served by several bus lines of the VLN Nienburg. The village was formerly by the Federal Highway 6 and K 3 is connected to Nienburg / Weser; but this was moved and dismantled the former road in the spring of 2009 in part. In Lemke crosses a 236 m long railway bridge truss structure of steel and iron, the Weser.
