German successes

Outstanding results in this competition are few and far between, as the German clubs in the 90s have largely lost the connection to the European top because of the increasing professionalization of the sport in South and Eastern Europe. At the premiere competition in Duisburg SV 98 still reached the semi-finals and defeated there against Ujpest. The German international Thomas Schertwitis reached in 2006 and 2007 with the Russian professional team of Sintez Kazan twice the final and won here in 2007 in the final series against the Croatian representatives VK Šibenik the title. The German champion water Spandau 04 in 2010 reached the semi-finals and was eliminated there against eventual winner VA Cattaro from Montenegro.
