Lena Park

Lena Park ( born March 23, 1978 in Los Angeles, Korean name: 박정현, Park Jung -hyun ) is a Korean- American R & B and soul singer with a great popularity in Asia, primarily in South Korea and Japan.

Life

Lena Park grew up as the eldest of three children of a Korean pastor's family in Los Angeles. It participated actively since her childhood in a gospel choir and participated in various singing competitions. In 1989, she won her first award at the age of 13 Downey Way Outer Broadway talent contest, which she repeated the following year. In 1993 she took part in the great Gospel Singer Contest and again won first place. This award enabled her, for the first time participate in an American gospel album called Crying Inside Dying Inside. She won more awards and took, inter alia, on the Gospel Music Festival in Chicago in part.

In 1997 she began her studies of Theatre and Dramatic Arts at the University of Los Angeles. During her studies she was continually appearances and already the following year, she released her first album Piece in South Korea, where she worked for two years. It sold 500,000 times.

1999 their second album, A Second Helping was released; 2000, the third album Naturally.

After a year break, in which she focused on her studies in the United States, she returned in 2002 with their fourth album Op.4 back. The single release 꿈 에 ( In Dream ) helped her breakthrough in Asia, such as Singapore or Hong Kong, and she enjoyed from now on also great popularity in Japan. At the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan, she was chosen by the South Korean government as the representative for the opening and closing ceremonies hymns. Together with the bands Brown Eyes, Chemistry and Sowelu she sang the theme song for the World Cup.

In 2005, she released her fifth album On & On and 2007, the sixth album Come To Where I Am.

Since 2006 she is enrolled as a student at Columbia University in New York.
