Lena Willemark

Lena will Mark ( born 1960 in Evertsberg / Dalarna ) is a Swedish folk and jazz musician, which occurs primarily as a violinist and singer. She also plays the Härjedalspipan, an ancient folk instrument from the family of flutes, which comes from the region Härjedalen.

Will Mark learned in their childhood the traditional folk music of central Sweden know. During her studies at the Royal Conservatory in Stockholm in the early 1980s, she worked with jazz singing. The combination of both styles distinguishes their music.

In 1989, she released her first solo album När Som Det Gräset Vajar for which she was awarded the Swedish Grammy and the Prize of the German music critics. Since 1990 she collaborates with the Swedish multi-instrumentalist Ale Möller, with whom she recorded the album Nordan with reinterpretations of medieval songs in 1993. In 1994 and 1995 she also appeared in the Swedish folk jazz group Enteli with Bengt Berger. Between spring 1995 and 1996, she was, together with Ale Möller for musical support group stage adaptation of a published in the years 1977 to 1985 novel suite of Sara Lidman, performed theater in Stockholm Orion.

Möller and Per Gudmundson, she played an album Frifot traditional Swedish methods. On the occasion of the appointment of Stockholm Cultural Capital of Europe in 1998, she composed the piece with Karin Rehnqvist Wingodur, which she recorded with Bobo Stenson, Palle Danielsson, Lisbeth Diers, Staffan Larson, Mikael Marin and Mats Olofsson.
