Lenka Pichlíková-Burke

Lenka Pichlíková -Burke ( born July 28, 1954 in Prague ) is a Czech actress who lives in the U.S. since 1982.

Life

She was born as the daughter of Karel and Anna Pichlík Hodková, born Málková. In 1977, Lenka Pichlíková finished her studies at the Theater Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She was a member of the Jiří Wolker Theatre Company in Prague, where she played at the age of nine. She then worked in the theater at the railing, the Činoherní club and the theater in the vineyards in Prague and was a guest artist at the National Theatre in Prague. During her career in Czechoslovakia, she starred in more than 40 television films and 12 feature films. She appeared in films including Karel Kachyňa ( meeting in July ) and Otakar Vavra ( Dark Sun ).

In 1982 she came to the U.S., where she played theater. Her roles included Masha in Chekhov's The Seagull ( Theatre West, Fort Worth, Texas) and Yelena in Uncle Vanya. She then studied with Marcel Marceau in the U.S. and worked as a mime in Mexico, France, Texas, New York and Connecticut. In 2006, she wrote and performed the one-person drama Three Women of Faith, which is based on the life of Hildegard von Bingen.

She is married to Marcus B. Burke, and has with him two sons.
