Lenkstein

The steering Stein ( 3226 m above sea level. A., also steering Big Stone ) is a peak in the Rieserfernergruppe and is located on the Austrian- Italian border between East and South Tyrol. It is located about 3.5 km northeast of the Hochgall, the highest peak of the group.

Increase opportunities

The summit can be approached from the southeast from Defereggental in East Tyrol, and also from the west of South Tyrol. Both increases are largely marked.

The increase from the southeast leads us through the valley to the splasher Barmer Hütte ( 2610m ). From the hut it is first descending northward, further shallow, partially over boulders, up a steep, rocky, secured with wire cables upswing of the ridge just above the Roßhornscharte ( 2916 m) to climb. Now over to the main ridge and down into the short Lenksteinjoch. An upswing with reddish rock climbs to the right, then back to the ridge or firn to the summit.

At the valley of Reintals, a tributary of the Aurina Valley, the rise of the West begins in the village of Rein ( 1595 m). The path leads through the Ursprungtal, then over the western flank and over the last piece of the south ridge. As a base Kassel Hut ( also Hochgallhütte, 2,276 m) can be used, where on the first part of the Arthur - hard sword - path, the Ursprungtal is achieved.
