Lennart Olsson

Lennart Olsson ( born September 5, 1961 in Järvsö, Sweden) is a Swedish zoologist and embryologist. Since 2000 he is Professor of Special Zoology at the Friedrich- Schiller- University Jena.

Life

After graduation Olsson trained as a dental technician in Umel, which he completed in 1980. Subsequently, he studied until 1988 Biology at Stockholm University and his doctorate in 1993 at the University of Uppsala, where he was then employed as a research assistant. In 2000 he was appointed to the University of Jena. He conducted research at the Institute of Systematic Zoology and Evolutionary Biology with Phyletic Museum. In 2005, he taught for two months as a visiting professor at the Museum of Comparative Zoology ( Museum of Comparative Zoology and OE) from Harvard University.

Research priorities

His research focuses on the embryological development of the vertebrate head. He has also done substantial contributions to the intellectual history of comparative anatomy.

Publications

Olsson published around 100 articles in journals and collective works, often in collaboration with colleagues.
