Leo Sterckx

Leo Sterckx (* July 16, 1936 in Hulshout ) is a former Belgian racing cyclist.

1959 and 1960 was Leo Sterckx Belgian champion in the sprint of the amateurs. He competed at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome and won the silver medal in the sprint and in the same year in Leipzig vice-world champion also in the sprint. Also at the Grand Prix de Paris, he finished second in this year. In all three international races, he was beaten by the Italians Sante Gaiardoni.

1961 moved Sterckx to the professionals. In 1962 he won the sprint tournament Grand Prix du Roi in Brussels, Belgian Vice-Champion in 1963 and 1964 Belgian champion in the sprint. In 1963 he started on his only Six Days in Buenos Aires and was third with Willi Altig. In 1965 he was re- Belgian vice-champion in the sprint and then ended his cycling career.
