Leogang is a municipality in the province of Salzburg, Zell am See in Austria with 3124 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

The community occupies the whole Leoganger valley. Leogang is located in the Pinzgau region between the Leogang Stone Mountains, whose highest peak, the Birnhorn ( 2634 m above sea level. A. ) in the north, and the Kitzbühel Alps in the south. There Leogang is located northwest of the shoulder Bach height ( 1520 m ) to the Leogang Ache. Leogang is bordered by Tyrol, situated on the altitude of 1000 m semolina pass, the road leads to Hochfilzen.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Ecking, grits, Leogang, Pirzbichl, Schwarzleo and Sun Mountain.

Demographics

History

Leogang was first mentioned in 930 as Liuganga documented. Leogang is one of the oldest mining sites of Salzburg, a Knappenkapelle evidence of the mining tradition. Today, the site is dialect referred to as " Loigom ".

Tourism

Winter

• Leonhardiritt to Leogang: The Leonhardiritt is a procession on horseback, which belongs to the Customs in Austria - Bavarian - room.
