Léon Dupont

Léon Dupont ( born May 18, 1881October 6, 1956 ) was a Belgian athlete who finished second in the state high jump at the Summer Olympics in Athens 1906.

Dupont went on in the interludes in three disciplines. In the standing long jump, he finished with 2,975 yards in fourth place behind the three Americans Ray Ewry, Martin Sheridan and Lawson Robertson. Five days later, Dupont could not qualify for the high jump final. The day after the finals in the state high jump took place on May 1, 1906; Raymond Ewry won with 1.56 meters clear behind Sheridan, Robertson and Dupont crossed each 1.40 meters and were honored together for second place.

Two years later at the Olympic Games in London in 1908 Dupont joined again in his three disciplines. In the standing long jump, he could not place itself. In the high jump jumped Dupont, who had a personal best of 1.75 meters, 1.67 meters and thus did not qualify for the finals, he is listed as 16 of the competition. In the state high jump he crossed 1.42 meters. This not he reached the final, but listed together with other jumpers eighth of the competition.

Léon Dupont was the first Belgian Olympic medalists in athletics.
