Léon Jean Marie Dufour
Jean -Marie Léon Dufour, Léon Jean Marie Dufour also be written as (* April 11, 1780 in Saint -Sever, Landes, † April 18, 1865 in Saint -Sever ) was a French physician and naturalist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Dufour ".
Dufour studied medicine from 1799 to 1806 in Paris, and then moved again to Saint -Sever. As Surgeon General, he took part in the 1808-1814 Spanish War of Independence. After the war he again returned to his birthplace.
During his lifetime, he published 232 articles on arthropods (20 of about spiders ) and was the author of the beetle known incomparable work Recherches sur les anatomiques Carabiques et sur plusieurs autres coleopteres ( 1824-1826, Paris).
Dufour honor received a bee genus of the family Halictidae the name " Dufourea ".
