Leona Gom

Leona Gom ( born 1946 in Alberta, Canada ) is a Canadian novelist, poet and high school teacher who wrote both poetry and mystery novels and thrillers. In addition, she won the Canadian Authors Association once each Award and the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize.

Life

Leona Gom was born in 1946 on a remote farm in northeastern Alberta and raised on. Your studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton she graduated with a B.Ed. and M. A. from. She taught for many years thereafter English at the Douglas and Kwantlen College and at the University of Alberta and the University of British Columbia. For about ten years she worked as an editor at the award-winning magazine event. She received a writer-in -residence position at the University of Alberta, the University of Lethbridge and the University of Winnipeg.

Her work includes some diaries and over 50 anthologies, only four of her crime novels about her fictional heroine Vicky Bauer were translated into German and a novel into French. The film rights of her novel The Y chromosomes were acquired and the text of which was received by both gender studies and sociology courses in Canada and the United States.

In 1980, she won the Canadian Authors Association Award for her poetry collection Land of the Peace and 1986 were honored her novel Housebroken with the belonging to the BC Book Prizes Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize.
