Leones del Caracas

The Leones del Caracas (Caracas Lions ) are a professional baseball team in the league Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional ( LVBP ), based in Caracas, Venezuela. They are the most successful team in Venezuela.

Achievements

Many players of the team come from Major League Baseball and play baseball at the so-called winter Leone during the off-season in North America. They won in the 2009/2010 season to 17 and are the current champions of the league. Twice, in 1982 and 2006, the Leones were also able to win the title in the Caribbean Series del Caribe.

History

The Leones emerged in 1952 as Pablo Morales and Oscar " El Negro" Prieto took over the team of Cerveceria Caracas. The stadium opened in 1951 the Leones is the Estadio Universitario de Caracas on the campus of the Universidad Central de Venezuela, which seats 25,000 spectators.
