Leonid Kostylev

Leonid Jewgenjewitsch Kostylew (Russian Леонид Евгеньевич Костылев, scientific transliteration Leonid Evgen'evič Kostylev; born May 8, 1989) is a Russian boxer. He was the 2008 European Champion in the amateur lightweight.

Career

Leonid Kostylew comes from Tschischmy in Bashkortostan. He is there as a militia officer. He began as a teenager with the boxes. In 2007 he started at the Russian Junior Championship at lightweight, left there but already in the first round with one defeat against Garnik Mamikojan ( 21:28 ) and thus did not reach the Round of 16 boxers.

In 2008, Leonid Kostylew increased tremendously and was in October 2008 in the lightweight, in the absence of world champion Alexei Tishchenko with wins over Nikolai Oganesjan Yevgeny Gradowitsch, Vladimir Magzumow and Edurard Chusainow Russian champion in the seniors. He was then employed by Alexander Lebsiak, the chief coach of the Russian boxing national team at the European Championships in Liverpool in November 2008.
