Leonid Lakerbaia

Leonid Lakerbaja (Russian Леонид Иванович Лакербая; Abkhaz Леонид Лакербаиа; * January 1, 1947 in Kutaisi, Georgian SSR ) is an Abkhaz politician. He is since 2011 the Prime Minister recognized only by a few States the Republic of Abkhazia.

Life

Leonid Lakerbaja studied in Moscow and worked at the time of the Soviet Union in an automotive operation in Abkhazia and later was director of operations for frozen products in Gagra. From 1991 he sat in parliament of Abkhazia. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Abkhazia reached a de facto independence. From June 1995 to June 1996 was Lakerbaja foreign minister of his country.

He was Vice- Premier Sergei Bagapsh government in 2005. After the presidential election in Abkhazia in 2011 Lakerbaja was appointed Prime Minister of his country from the reign of Alexander Ankwabs on September 27, 2011.
