He was sentenced to death by firing squad; the sentence was commuted to a prison sentence of 10 years. In captivity he continued to work on his self-developed steam boiler. In 1933, the first such steam boilers in thermal power plant TEZ -9 was tested as used.

In 1936 Ramsin was released due to an amnesty. In 1943 he was awarded for outstanding scientific inventions of the Stalin Prize. Ramsin worked at the Moscow Institute of Power Engineering. In his book The Gulag Archipelago ( Volume 1, Chapter The Law is ripe, page 366) described Alexander Solzhenitsyn Ramsin as the " prototype of the cynical and brilliant traitor ". All seven scientists who he has accused during the Prompartija process, perished in prison. Until his death Ramsin was ostracized and ignored by the Soviet science.
