Léonide Massine

Leonid Fyodorovich Mjasin (Russian Леонид Фёдорович Мясин; * 27 Julijul / August 8 1895greg in Moscow, .. † 15 March 1979 Borken ), better known by the French name transcribed Léonide Massine, was a Russian dancer and choreographer.

Life

Massine was a pupil of Enrico Cecchetti and Nicholas Legat. In 1914 he danced for the first time for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, after his first choreography for the Ballets Russes in 1915, he was until 1921 the most important choreographers of the company.

In 1926 he emigrated to America. He was from 1932 to 1941 Artistic Director of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, for which he choreographed and danced. 1932 Massine choreographed the London premiere Karl Gustav Vollmoeller The Miracle on 9 April 1932 at the Lyceum Theatre. He also danced the part of the " game 's" on the side of Tilly Losch.
