Leonor de Almeida Portugal, 4th Marquise of Alorna

Alcipe, actually Leonor de Almeida Portugal Lorena e Alencastre, 4 Marquessa de Alorna ( born October 31, 1750 in Lisbon, † October 11, 1839 just there), was a Portuguese nobleman, poet and translator.

She founded the so-called " Sociedade da Rosa ' (Society of the Rose), a antinapoleonische institution. Alcipe had stays in Vienna and London. She was married to the Count of Oeynhausen and with Madame de Stael friends.

Alcipe translated into Portuguese a number of authors, including Horace, Alexander Pope, Christoph Martin Wieland, Edward Young and Alphonse de Lamartine. In her poetry she was inclined to romantic as well as classical tendencies, but at the same time also a follower of the Enlightenment.
