Leopold van Asten

Leopold Leonardus Petronella van Asten (* October 19, 1976 in Venray, Limburg) is a Dutch show jumper.

Career

As the son of parents avid horse van Asten started to ride five year. During his pony time he started three times in the European Championships. After leaving school he devoted himself to the cavalry and finally collected shortly after his first international successes (including 3rd place at the Grand Prix of Tokyo). In 1999 he rode his first Nations Cup. In 2003, he won the Dutch championship.

In 2004 he competed in the Olympics in Athens and finished in single rank 30, with the team he finished fourth.

In 2005 he won with Think Twice II the Grand Prize at CHI Donaueschingen. In 2009 he won the Grand Prix of Estoril, a stage of the Global Champions Tour.
