Leopoldia

Schopfige (grape Leopoldia comosa )

Leopoldia is a plant genus of the subfamily Scilloideae.

Description

The inflorescence is a loose or dense grape. The flower stalks are longer and shorter than the flowers. Fertile flowers are oblong- urn- shaped or tubular, constricted at the neck and usually brownish, dirty yellowish or greenish. A corona is missing. Due to the well-developed shoulders with short terminal lobes (or teeth ), the flowers often seem unbalanced. The lobes are off-white, yellowish or blackish. There are a number of barren flowers available. These form a blue, purple or pink boy who can sometimes be also greatly reduced. The fruit capsules are three-lobed, the lobes flattened moderate, or severe.

Dissemination

The occurrence of the species extends across the whole of the Mediterranean. It ranges from the Canary Islands to Afghanistan and Central Germany and the southern former USSR to North Africa.
