Leribe District

Location of the district in Lesotho Leribe

The district is one of the ten districts Leribe of the Kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa.

Geography

The district lies to the north of the country has an area of ​​2828 km ² and a population of 298 352. Its capital is Hlotse. Hlotse is often called Leribe, such as on road signs or at the official postal address. This Leribe is actually the name of a high plateau, a village and a mission station about eight kilometers east of Hlotse.

The district is located southwest of Leribe Butha -Buthe District, west of the districts of Mokhotlong and Thaba- Tseka and north of Berea district. In the northwest it borders on the South African province of the Free State. Border river is the Caledon, on Sesotho Mohokare.
