Les Apaches

Les Apaches or Société des Apaches was a French artist group.

Around 1900, various painters, writers and other artists met regularly in Paris. Soon was formed a solid group that regularly met Saturday at the home of painter Paul sordes. The group's name was derived from a newspaper vendor ago, who declared the headline "Attention les apaches ." The Group adopted the term " apaches ," who had in their minds, the meaning of " hooligans ".

With the consent of all members of the composer Maurice Ravel chose the first movement of the " second Symphony in B Minor "by Alexander Borodin Porfirjewitsch to the club anthem. In Ravel is also the fictional Member Gomez de Riquet due. By his own account he justified this with the fact that " ... if the circumstances require, call a name and but had it not harass a colleague ".
