Les Grangettes

Grangettes is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Grangettes is located on 899 m above sea level, about nine kilometers south-southwest of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the Haut- Doubs, on a Verebnungsfläche a scenic location about 50 m above the western shore of Lac de Saint-Point, on the slope of the ridge of Grangettes.

The area of ​​5.38 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. History

Is first mentioned Grangettes in the 13th century under the name Grangiis. Since 1683 the present name is attested. The place name derives from the Latin word folk granica (barn ) ago. In the Middle Ages Grangettes belonged to the rule of Pontarlier. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since 1999 Grangettes is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Mont d' Or et des Deux Lacs.

Attractions

The village church of Saint -Jean -Baptiste was built in 1635 and consecrated in 1665. At the beginning of the 20th century fishermen's houses of Port- Titi were built.

Population

With 264 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Grangettes one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century ( in 1886 174 people were still counted ), a striking population growth has been recorded since the early 1970s thanks to the attractive residential area again.

Economy and infrastructure

Grangettes has long been a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. As a resort in a popular tourist area in the High Jura Grangettes now benefiting also from tourism. The community is mainly focused on summer tourism and has a recreation area with boat harbor and made-up stretch of beach on the shores of Lac de Saint-Point.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that runs along the left bank of Lac de Saint-Point. Another road connection with Malpas.
