Lescheraines

Lescheraines is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

Lescheraines is on 651 m above sea level. M., about 21 km northeast of the town of Chambery (air line). The farming village extends to the northwest of the Savoie département, in the massif of the Wallows, in the broad valley basin of the Chéran on the eastern foot of the Montagne de Bange.

The area of ​​8.17 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the massif of the Wallows. The main part of the territory occupied by the valley widening, in which the Chéran is slightly incised. Below the village lead from the southwest of the Ruisseau de Saint- François and north of the Ruisseau de Bellecombe. South of Chéran extends the community area on the gently sloping hillside of Lescheraines up on the north-eastern foothills of Mont Margeriaz. Here it is with 1305 m altitude. M. reached the highest elevation of Lescheraines. North of the Chéran ranges of communal land in the valley of the Ruisseau de Bellecombe.

To Lescheraines next to the village itself includes various hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:

Neighboring communities of Lescheraines are Bellecombe -en -Bauges in the north, La Motte- en- Bauges and Châtelard in the east, Le Noyer in the south and in the west Arith.

History

The first mention of Lescheraines was in 1108 under the name tab arena. Later, the names Escarena ( 1215), Escherena ( 1238 ), Lescherène ( 1278 ), Escherana in the 14th century and Lescheraines -en- Savoye (1732 ) published. The name goes back to the spread in the local dialect word écherêne ( ridge ), the French article was agglutinated. Since the Middle Ages Lescheraines center was a rule.

Attractions

The parish church of Lescheraines was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style.

Population

With 730 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lescheraines is one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. After the population declined sharply in the first half of the 20th century, a significant population increase has been recorded since the mid- 1980s thanks to the beautiful residential area again.

Economy and infrastructure

Lescheraines was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, embossed village. The water power of the Chéran was formerly used for the operation of mills. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The town is a regional transportation hub in the massif of the Wallows. It is located on a secondary road that leads from Annecy by the massif of the bauges to Chambery. Other regional road links exist with Alby- sur- Chéran, Saint -Pierre- d'Albigny and Aillon -le- Jeune. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 21 km.
