Leśniewo, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Leśniewo ( Fuerstenau German ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. It belongs to the powiat Kętrzyński, Gmina Srokowo. Leśniewo forms a mayor's office ( sołectwo ), including the villages of Księży Dwór and Kaczory belong.

Geography

Leśniewo located in northern Poland, approximately 12 kilometers south of the Polish border with Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. One kilometer north-east of the village is the lake Rydzówka.

History

Leśniewo was created 1380-1390 by Kulm law. The village belongs to the surface was 52 Wloka. 1785 38 residential buildings were counted. When setting up in 1817, 44 people lived in 48 houses. In May 1939 778 people were counted. In January 1945, at the end of the Second World War, the area was occupied by the Red Army, and came in the wake of Poland. 1970 were counted in Leśniewo 367 inhabitants. At that time there was in the village a four-year primary school, a library and a cinema spot for 60 spectators. In 1973 it was seat of a Schulz Office ( sołectwo ) in the Gmina Srokowo.

The village is located at the Province Road 650 ( droga wojewódzka 650). This leads to the east after about twelve kilometers to Węgorzewo and crosses there the provincial road 63 To the west it leads after about a kilometer through the seat of the municipality Srokowo and ends after about 13 kilometers in Barciany.

The nearest train station is located in about 20 km south Kętrzyn where the PKP has direct scheduled to Olsztyn and Poznan.

The nearest international airport is Kaliningrad, which is about 100 kilometers northwest located on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is about 200 kilometers west location Lech Walesa Airport, Gdansk. The most important airport in Poland, the Fryderyk Chopin Airport Warsaw is located 230 km southwest of Leśniewo.
