Leśnik, Opole Voivodeship

Leschnig, Polish: Leśnik / i, is a town in Upper Silesia. Leschnig located in the municipality Oberglogau ( Głogówek ) in Prudnicki powiat (district Neustadt OS) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Leschnig located four kilometers northwest of the municipality seat Oberglogau, 20 kilometers east of the county town of Prudnik ( Neustadt OS) and 34 kilometers south of the Opole voivodship ( Opole ).

East of Leschnig flows an arm of the Osobłoga ( Hotzenplotz ), a tributary of the Oder.

Neighboring towns of Leschnig in the West Blaschewitz ( Błażejowice Dolne ), in the northeast Kerpen ( Kierpień ) and Repsch ( Rzepcze ), in the southeast of the city Oberglogau and south Mochau ( Mokhov ).

History

1217 for the first time a place called " Lesnicia " was mentioned in a document, which is suspected to be Leschnig, or possibly to Leschnitz for large Strehlitz. In this document, Kasimir, Duke of Opole awarded, on the advice of Bishop Lorenz and other village freedom. 1388 was followed by another Documentary mention. 1388 gave the Piastenherzog Ladislaus of Opole Leschnig the place with other places the Paulites who had been settled in the same year in Mochau and built them a monastery. 1649 investigated the plague- the village. 1865 the place was part of the community meadow - Pauline.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 90 voters to remain in Germany and 16 for the membership of Poland. Leschnig remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 159 inhabitants in the village. On July 21, 1936, the town was renamed in Heger forest. 1939, the place had 148 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Leśnik and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship and since 1999 he is part of the powiat Prudnicki. On 22 April 2009 German was in the community Oberglogau who belongs Leschnig, introduced as a second official language. On 1 December 2009, the City also received the official German place names Leschnig.
