Lešok Monastery

Lesok Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery in Macedonia. It is located about 8 km outside the city of Tetovo near the border with Kosovo. The monastery complex includes churches that are dedicated to St. Athanasius and the Virgin Mary. The Church of the Virgin Mary was built in 1326 in Byzantine style. Many original marble statues in the church are now in the Museum of Tetovo. In the 19th century saw a revival of the monastic tradition and Lesok monastery developed into a cultural center.

The church of St. Athanasius was built in 1924 next to the church of the Virgin Mary. On the monastery grounds, the grave of the Macedonian scholars Kiril Peitschinowitsch is (* 1770, † 1865). In his honor, regularly hosts an international translators' meeting in Lesok.

Today the restored dormitories of the monastery for tourism to be used.
