Let Go (English for " letting go " ) is the first studio album by the Canadian rock singer Avril Lavigne, and was released on 4 June 2002 in the United States. In Germany, the album was released on 9 September 2002.

Background

Due to differences with the record company Arista Records pulled Avril Lavigne from New York to Los Angeles. There she met producer Clif Magness, with whom she could finish the album Let Go according to their wishes. She was supported by producer collective " The Matrix", who had already written songs for Sheena Easton and Christina Aguilera. Lavigne taught all the songs a personal experience, such as about problems with their parents, the school and her first love.

Tour

To promote her debut album, Lavigne launched in January 2003 her first world tour with the name Try to Shut Me Up Tour. The setlist consisted addition to the songs on the album of cover versions of other well -known songs, such as Knockin 'on Heaven 's Door by Bob Dylan and the band Green Day Basket Case. During the tour, the My World DVD was created. The tour ended in June 2003 after 57 played concerts.

The album reached six times platinum in the United States, seven times in Australia and in Canada. A Diamond Award received Avril Lavigne for selling over one million units. In Germany Let Go received the 2002 Platinum. Overall, the album stayed 13 weeks in the top 10 of the German album charts, 51 weeks, it stayed in the top 100 albums. Highest finish was second place with the following album Under My Skin she could top this success yet.
