Lethbridge Hurricanes
The Lethbridge Hurricanes are a Canadian ice hockey team from Lethbridge, Alberta. The team plays since 1987 in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Western Hockey League ( WHL).
History
In the summer of 1987, the Calgary Wranglers from Calgary, Alberta, moved to Lethbridge and Lethbridge Hurricanes renamed. Already in its third year, the team reached the final of the Ed Chynoweth Cup, where they were subject to the Kamloops Blazers for the first time. In the following season they once again reached the WHL finals, where they were beaten by the Spokane Chiefs. Her biggest success reached the Hurricanes in the 1996/97 season when they won the Ed Chynoweth Cup. As WHL champions to Lethbridge qualified for the Memorial Cup, where they lost the Olympiques de Hull from the QMJHL. In the 2007 /08 season, the Hurricanes reached once more the WHL final, subject, however, for the second time after 1990, the Spokane Chiefs.
Before the Lethbridge Hurricanes Lethbridge Broncos the already played from the WHL in Lethbridge ( 1974-1986 ).
