Lex Canuleia

The Lex Canueleia (Latin law of Canuleius ) was adopted in the Roman Republic in 445 BC. She allowed marriages between plebeians and patricians. Canuleius was the tribune of the people, by the enforced this law.

Trigger for this decision was primarily the plebeian secession in 449 BC, which had been obtained after the first victory in the battle of the stands. As a prerequisite for Lex Canueleia that was half political, half religious coined, called the Twelve Tables of 450 BC is considered.
