Leycesterie ( Leycesteria formosa )

Leycesteria are a plant genus in the family of the Honeysuckle family ( Caprifoliaceae ).

Description

Leycesteria species are deciduous shrubs that reach heights of growth from 1 to 2.50 meters. The simple, ovate to lanceolate leaves are tapered, are light green bottom and 5 to 20 cm long. The leaf margin serrate smooth or irregular fine.

In drooping inflorescences several flowers are whorled along, between large, colorful bracts. The tubular or trumpet-shaped flowers are fünfzählig. The five unequal sepals are fused Roehrig. The five petals are fused are funnel-shaped. It's just a circle with five stamens present with short stamens. Five carpels are fused into an ovary. The scar is capitate. They are soft berries, which contain many tiny seeds.

Dissemination

The distribution of Leycesteria species ranges from northwestern Himalayas to the south-western China.
