Liberal Egyptian Party

The Liberal Egyptian Party (Arabic الحزب المصري الليبرالي, Egyptian- arbisch: الحزب المصرى الليبرالى, el Hizb el Masri el liberalization ), formerly Mother Egypt Party was a secular political party in Egypt, when it was originally grass -roots movement.

The party saw himself in the tradition of indigenous anti-colonial activists of the early 20th century, which wanted to emphasize the Egyptian identity again reinforced. According to the Egyptian Liberal Party, the Egyptian identity is based in part on the national independence from the British and the Ottoman Empire, on the establishment of a secular and democratic national government, and on the formalization of the local language Masri ( Egyptian Arabic ).

The Liberal Egyptian party afterwards, the indigenous Egyptian language, which is finally extinct in the 19th century to revive and Egypt to break away from that introduced by Gamal Abdel Nasser Arab nationalist policy objective. The party campaigned for a good relationship with Israel and for fully normalized relations with the West. They called for the separation of religion from politics and most civil matters. The founder of the Liberal Egyptian party was Mahmoud Elphraouni from the governorate of Assiut. On 29 March 2011, the party merged with the Egyptian Social Democratic Party.
