Lichtsee

The Lichtsee is north above the village of Upper Mountain at 2,101 meters above sea level in the burner in a dell below the Trunajochs. He can be reached only on foot from the village. With an area of ​​1.3 hectares, it is one of the larger lakes in this altitude. Approximately 500 m to the west of the lake is light, the smaller Obernberger Rohrsee. Both are part of the nature reserve Nößlachjoch - Upper Lake Starnberg - Tribulaune.

The name of the lake comes from MHG lieht meaning " bright ", " without forested environment " and can refer both to the clear water as well as on the location above the timberline.
