The Liepona (Russian: Lipówka, German Lepone ) is a 35 km long river that 22.9 km forms the border between Lithuania to the east and the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast to the west. It rises about 20 km north of Wystiter Lake and flows north until it empties into the Širvinta in the Šešupė shortly before its confluence.

As such waters the Lepone since the early Middle Ages is, at that time between the German Order of the west, and Lithuania to the east.

The name is derived from the Lithuanian liepa "Linde". To this end, the Russian name is a translation.
