Liesbeth Mau Asam

Liesbeth Mau Asam Eveline ( born April 9, 1982 in The Hague ) is a former Dutch Shorttrackerin.

Career

She came about speed skating on the long course finally to short track speed skating. Her first international title fights were the Junior World Championships in 2000 and 2001. However, where she retired in every single race out after preroll. In February 2003, Mau Asam finally debuted in the World Cup. With the season they immediately became third and reached her first World Cup podium. The best result in a single race drew more than 1500 m the semi-finals. In Sofia, she contested for the first time the team World Cup, missed there with the teammates but the final. In the 2003 /04 season Mau Asam launched only in the two World Cups in Europe, reaching more than 1500 m respectively the semi-finals. In Gothenburg they first participated also at the Individual World Championship and posted as the best result a quarter finals over 1000 m.

In the season 2004/05 Mau Asam could be further improved. With three World Cups they could reach a semi-final in a single race. At the European Championships in Turin, she moved across all three individual sections semi-finals, but missed the finals respectively. At the World Championships in Beijing, they also reached the semi-finals over 1500m then what should be the best World Cup individual placing their careers. In the World Cup their services stagnated in the following season 2005/06., Above 1500 m it was only through a good European Championship in Krynica -Zdrój, where she reached two finals Fifth, Seventh over 3000 m, and finished eighth in the all around she qualified for the Olympic Games in Turin. There they started over all three individual sections. In the run she left only about 500 m, 1000 m, she reached the quarter, more than 1500 m the semi-finals.

In the post-Olympic season Mau Asam not part of the World Cup squad. They only started again in the 2007/ 08 season again in international races. In the World Cup but they could not convince in six World Cups, two semi-finals over 1500 m were her best results. She took part in the World Championships in Harbin, retired from there but in the heats. In the 2008 /09 season stagnated their findings in individual World Cup race on. Successful Mau Asam was but at the European Championships in Turin. In the season they won the bronze medal and thus their first international medal. With the team, she was at the home World Cup in Heerenveen also sixth. In its latest 2009/10 season Mau Asam started again in all four World Cups, but was limited to max advance to the quarterfinals. In the relay Mau Asam presented in November 2009 with Maaike Vos, Sanne van Kerkhof, Jorien ter Mors and Annita van Doorn in 4:13,135 min a Dutch squadron record. At the European Championships in Dresden she repeated in the season winning the bronze medal from the previous year. She took part in Vancouver at their second Olympic Games. About 500 m and 1000 m, they did not survive the heats, but reached with the relay as the winner in the B-final in fourth in the final standings. After the Olympic Games Mau Asam ended her active career.
