Liévin Lerno

Liévin Lerno ( born October 5, 1927 in Lokeren, Belgium ) is a former Belgian cyclist.

Sports career

Lerno was active 1946-1954. Until 1948, he continued as an amateur and as such had with the 2nd in the road world championship in 1948 in Valkenburg Netherlands the first major success of his sports career. With the Belgian national team, he won the gold medal in the road race at the 1948 Olympic Games in London. He then moved into the professional camp, where he first went for the French team Garin - Wolber. In 1950, he won his first professional victory at the races of Oostakker and Eke. After winless 1951 Lerno joined the Belgian team Groene Leeuw, with whom he won the criterion in the Belgian Nazareth in September 1952. 1954 was the last year of his career as a professional driver. In May this year he won his last race at the Sint- Lievens- Esse course in Belgium.
