Liftershalte

A Liftershalte is an official site for Hitchhiking in the Netherlands. The term is derived from the words " lift " = Hitchhikers and "hold" = stop. It is often also referred to as " Liftersplaats ".

The specially engineered for hitchhikers places are marked with an official sign and provide a sufficiently large bay, so that cars can keep you safe. The entrainment opportunities at the Liftershalte are higher than at other places in the Netherlands, because the official bodies have already found widespread acceptance in the population. The Liftersplaats hitchhikers should provide an opportunity to move around safely and without holding up traffic.
