Liga Leumit

The League Le'umit (Hebrew ליגה לאומית ) is the second highest division in Israeli football.

Mode

The League Le'umit is being played with 16 teams. After finishing the regular season, during which there is a double round between all teams, two groups are formed: the first group consists of the eight top finishers of the round, the second from the remaining eight teams. In both groups, the results are transferred from the 30 matches of the preliminary round, and even played a single round between the 8 clubs. Better -placed teams will receive it a home game more than the others.

While in the promotion round of the top 8 teams from the two climbers are determined in the Ligat ha Al, there are out of the relegation round two direct relegated to the third-rate league Aleph, and a relegation place against the best runners from the two groups of the third division.

Ascent control

Since the 2012/13 season, the Israeli Championship will be played in Ligat ha Al with 14 instead of the previous 16 clubs. For this purpose rose at the end of the 2011/12 season, only one team from the league on Le'umit. Henceforth two clubs regularly ascend directly and replaced by the two last-place clubs in the Ligat ha Al.
