Lightner Witmer

Lightner Witmer ( born June 28, 1867 in Philadelphia, † July 19, 1956 ) was an American psychologist and a pioneer of the psychological parent counseling.

Life

Witmer was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where he 1896, the first psychological clinic founded. It dealt with counseling, therapy and rehabilitation, and is considered a model of the later Child Guidance Clinics. 1897 Witmer founded the journal Psychological Clinic.
