Bahnbetriebswerk Limburg

The depot Limburg was known primarily for the sheltering of battery railcar series of ETA 150 and ETA 176, the latter were stationed only in Limburg and were also called Limburg cigar because of its round vehicle front.

In 1985, the depot ( Bw ) was still completely available: With a 23 -meter ( hub 1) and a 20-meter hub ( hub 2), corresponding roundhouse with 20 or 12 tracks, a small canteen, a locomotive office and a water tower.

In 1991, the depot was assigned as a branch of the railway depot casting and thus lost its independence.

In 1994, the roundhouse one was demolished. The tracks were left, only the roundhouse tracks were dismantled. The roundhouse was the turntable 2 1998 for Baufälligkeiten closed so that the locomotives of the BR 216 always stood in front of the shed. End of 1998, the turntable was then removed and 1 broken down some tracks. The last rays of the turntable tracks 1 were removed in 2001. Locomotives of series 216 were still parked at the turntable 2. 2002, plate 2 was shut down. In early 2002, the new diesel filling station was built in front of the hub 2. A company was contracted to rehabilitate the soil and remove the contamination until the autumn / winter 2004.

In early 2007 the roundhouse was the turntable 2 from recycling companies Schuy, which bought the site in 2005, demolished.

Now only the turntable 2 without tracks is left. The site serves as a parking area for dumpster company Schuy. The other future is unclear.
