Limpio is a city in Paraguay in the north of the department of Central with 87 301 inhabitants ( 2002).

The city was founded in 1785 by the Franciscan Luis de Bolaños under the name of San José de los Campos de Limpios Tapua. She was one of the first places of Mestizentums between Spaniards and the Guaraní.

The city is regarded as one of the first inhabited places of the country.

She has a Ausdehneung of about 117 km ² and is divided into 9 Compañías and 20 Barrios, Urbanizaciones and villages. Some areas look even completely rural, others have an increasing urban dynamics.

The town is bounded by two major rivers: the Paraguay River in the west and the Río Salado in the east. It is located at a distance of 23 km north of the capital Asunción.

The city has a port on the Río Paraguay called Piquete Cué. The district limpio is because of the infrastructure that it offers, a center of migration from the capital region.
