Lina Basquette
Lina Basquette, origin. Lena Copeland Baskette ( born April 19, 1907 in San Mateo, California, † 20 September 1994 in Wheeling, West Virginia) was an American actress.
Life
Lina Basquette made her first film in 1916 at the age of nine years. By 1917, she appeared in 16 films. In 1925 she married the Hollywood producer Sam Warner of Warner Bros. At 19 she became mother in 1926 and 1927 as Sam Warner of his film died one day before the premiere of The Jazz Singer, with 20 years widow. After the early death of her husband, there was a dispute with Warner Brothers. She received from a life insurance $ 40,000, a car and a pension of $ 85 a week. However, they had custody of her daughter Lita to the brothers leave and saw her daughter after 30 years. In 1928 she was voted one of the WAMPAS baby stars of the year.
In 1929, she married J. Peverell Marley the cameraman, the marriage lasted until 1930. 1959 she married a third time.
In 1928 she received the Cecil B. DeMille's title role in last silent film The Godless Girl. In 1929, she starred alongside Jean Hersholt starred in Frank Capra's film Young generation that was partially already produced as a sound film. With the talkies she only received a few rolls and spent their time especially with travel. She had next seven marriages affairs with celebrities such as Jack Dempsey or Nelson Eddy. In 1943, she turned to 1991, her last film. In the same year, she made headlines because of their rape allegations against a young U.S. soldier. The young man received a prison sentence of 20 years. Lina Basquette retired then returned to private life. In the 1950s, she began with the professional breeding of Great Danes. She has received numerous awards for her dogs and was a recognized referee in dog competitions. The dogs she sold all over the world, including Hollywood stars like Raymond Burr were among their customers.
In 1991, she appeared one last time in front of a movie camera. She played an elderly lady in Daniel Boyd's film Paradise Park.
In her honor, there is a star on the Walk of Fame.
