Lincoln Bible

Lincoln Bible is the copy of the Bible, called on the U.S. president Abraham Lincoln in 1861 swore his oath during his inauguration. It is kept in the Library of Congress in Washington. The Bible has been restored in recent years.

The 44th U.S. President Barack Obama vowed on 20 January 2009 on the Lincoln Bible the oath of office. He was the first president after Lincoln, who did this. However, the Chief Justice John Roberts underwent at the Eidabnahme a slip of the tongue, so Obama spoke the oath with twisted word order and these safety's sake took off again January 22, 2009, this time without the historical edition of the Bible.

When public oath to the commencement of his second term of office on January 21, 2013 Barack Obama vowed again on the Lincoln Bible and the Bible by Martin Luther King.
